Routing the restored drainage through fond 15-P2 will require one or two new
culverts under the County Road. This work would need to be coordinated with the
county. We may also need [o obtain approval to direct the drainage to Pond 15-P2
from the Division of Water Resources and the local landowners.
Revegetation and Weed Control
East- and south-facing reclaimed slopes north of the County Road at the west end
of the mine need some reseeding. Several disturbances north of the County Road
need thistle spraying.
B. Section 22, T31S, R65W
Access Road Repair Work (East-West Section)
The access road in Section 22 that heads east and uphill from the old mine shop
needs work (see map). The road is rutted and needs blading. The road ditch on
the uphill side needs tilling in and armoring. A drainage crossing near the crest of
the road needs reshaping and armoring.
2. Removal of Upland Diversion 22-D4
One of the reasons the east-west portion of the Section 22 access road continues to
have erosion problems is that the outfal] of Upland Diversion Ditch 22-D4 is
situated immediately uphill of the road. Removal of the diversion would reduce
the impact to this section of the access road.
Access Road Repair Work (North-South Section)
On the outslope of the road, and across from Pond 22-P5, is a gully that needs
repair. Another road outslope gully exists across from Pond 22-P6. A third gully
exists near where the access road turns to the southwest.
4. Remove Old Culvert
Immediately downhill from reclaimed Pond 22-P7 is an old culvert buried when
Pond 22-P7 was reclaimed. This culvert has been exposed due to recent erosion.
It should be removed and possibly used elsewhere.
5. Rill and Gully Repair/Revegetation
The steep, north-facing reclaimed slope at the west end of the mine, immediately
south of the Canyon del Agua and located in the NW/4 of the NW/4 of Section 22
(see map), needs erosion control and reseeding work.
Attachments
V v_' Ken[ Gorham
N1;\oss\jrc\vinidadbasinmo.doc
