Here are the tasks Kent Gorham
and I believe should be addressed:
A. Section l5, T31S, R65W
Remove Pond i~-P1 and Diversions l5-DI and 15-D3; Restore Natural Drainage
Pattern
~~~~~
DEPARTMENT OF
NATURAL
RESOURCES
Rov Romer
Governor
lames 5. Lochhead
E.ecwive Director
Michael B. Lony
Division Director
Pond 15-P1 (see map) has silted in due Io receiving diverted runoff from a large
drainage located west of the pond. This runoff is being diverted to the pond via
Diversion Ditches IS-D1 and 15-D3. The .spillway for this pond was repaired a
few years ago, but has since washed out again. The pond and the two diversion
ditches need w be removed, and the naturai drainage routed through Ccunty Road
Bridge C-5.
Restore Natural Drainage West of Ponds 15-P1 and :5-P2
Once Diversion Ditches 15-D1 and 15-D3 are removed, the natural pattern of the
drainage channel west of Ponds 15-P1 and IS-P2 will need to be restored. There
appear to be three possible paths that this restored drainage could follow. The
most likely would be through County Road Culvert C-6. Other paths could be
through County Road Bridge C-7 or through Pond 15-P2.
Since TBM was permitted, a private road (red dashed line on map) has been
constructed across the old drainage channel. Restoring the drainage may require
installation of one or two culverts under this private road. This work would need
[o be coordinated with the local property owners.
Routing the returned drainage through County Road Culver[ C-6 may require
removal and replacement of this old culvert with one or two new ones as well.
This work would need to be coordinated with Las Animas County.
