Mr. Dan T. Plathews Page Four
July 8, 1982
J The proposed sump location is shown on the attached Mine Plan Map (Flap
9). A detailed design drawing of the sump is also attached as Figure
5, Sump Design. The capacity of the proposed sump is approximately
17,165 gallons.
Because mining at the Bear No. 3 operation will advance primarily
updip, the sump will be located near the portal entries so that flow
of any groundwater within the mine can be channeled to the sump. Any
unmanageable groundwater encountered within the mine will be pumped,
1 channeled or otherwise diverted into the sump according to appropriate
operational procedures. If difficulties with groundwater control are
encountered, the Bear Coal Company will contact the Division for
~ assistance and/or concurrence with the procedures.
Stipulation No. 4
Bear Coal Company will submit a detailed hydrologic report on any
water encountered within the underground mine. The first report will
be submitted in August of 1983, and annual reports will be submitted
yearly thereafter.
Stipulation No. 6
Bear Coal Company will submit to the Division an annual hydrologic
report including data collected throughout the year. The first report
will be submitted Augusct, 1983? and will be submitted annually
thereafter. ~
Stipulation No. 7
' No response is necessary.
Stipulation No. 8
Three monitoring points will be installed on the backfill at the Bear
' No. 2 portal area. These points will be monitored and the results
submitted to the Division. A detailed monitoring plan with
construction specifications will be submitted to .the Division prior to
backfilling of the P1ine No. 2 portal area.
Stipulation No. 9
No response is necessary.
Stipulation No. 10
' 1. As recommended by Rocky Mountain Geotechnical, a 15-foot wide
template (road-bearing surface) will be maintained between
stations 4+40 and 5+00 on the access road to the Mine No. 3
portals.
A ~ ~ tt~c.
...........................o,..,.,
