Mined Land ReclaZTiation Page 2
F Attn: Brad Janes
April 21 , 1982
The application states that mining operations will be maintained at dis-
tances more than 300 feet from existing wells and South Boulder Creel;
to avoid adverse effects . Though this estimate of maximum radius of in-
fluence might be correct, we feel Flatiron Sand and Gravel should agree
to mitigate any injury to existing wells . Also, Flatiron Sand and Gravel
should agree to protect Upper Bear Creek Ditch from adverse effects of
the mine operation. A monitoring system probably is necessary to provide
data supporting or contradicting claims that may occur.
We do not object to the proposed gravel mine provided the applicant ob-
tains a well permit , has a court approved plan of augmentation, and agrees
to mitigate any injury to nearby water users. We will order the applicant
to cease operations if excavation begins without the required well permit.
HDS/JRH:pkr
