~cz
Mr. Dave Canning
Page Two
April 8, 1991
DATA PRESENTATION AND ANALYSIS
Reported concentrations of PCBs ranged from non-detected to 41 mg/kg. The
analytical results are presented on the attached Organics Analysis Data Sheet.
These results indicate that all the transformer oils contain less than 50 mg/kg
PCBs and therefore, this substation can be classified as Non-PCB.
For your information, a copy of 40 CFR Part 761, which governs the use, storage,
and disposal of PCBs is attached to this report. Subpart D specifically addresses
storage and disposal issues. The first paragraph of the right hand column of page
263 explains the definition of a Non-PCB Transformer as containing less than 50
mg/kg of PCBs.
ACZ appreciates the opportunity to provide environmental services for Sunland
Mining Co. We hope that this report has addressed your concerns regarding the
status of the substation with respect to PCBs.
If you have any questions regarding this report, please call.
Respectfully submitted,
ACZ Inc.
Steven T.
