-12-
As required by Rule 2.04.b(2), roof and floor rock from one drill hole were
analyzed by strata. The roof and floor rock analyses are discussed further in
the cumulative hydrologic impacts section of this document.
The geologic description and baseline information were sufficient to satisfy
the requirements of this section. Therefore, the operation is determined to
be in compliance regarding geological information.
V. ~H,~drologic Balance - Rules 2.04.5, 2.04.7, 2.05.3(4), 2.05.6(3), and
A. Ground Water
Information regarding ground water hydrology in the permit and adjacent area
is presented on pages 34-36 and JFSA 13-45 of the permit application.
Ground water resources in the permit and adjacent areas are limited in extent
due to lenticular lithologies of the potential water-bearing units and because
of previous mine dewatering. Sufficient information was provided to determine
that the proposed mining operation, upon acceptance of the stipulations in
this document, has been designed to minimize disturbances to existing ground
water resources. The topic of ground water occurrence and potential mining
impacts to ground water is discussed in the probable hydrologic impact section
of this document, Section VIII. With acceptance of the hydrologic monitoring
stipulations, the Division finds that there is sufficient information within
the permit application to find this section in compliance.
B. Surface Water
Information pertaining to surface water within the permit and adjacent area is
presented on pages 37-48 and JFSA 46-56 of the permit application.
The permit area is drained by two ephemeral drainages Lewis Gulch and South
Oak Creek. The potential impacts to these drainages are minimal and are
discussed in the probable hydrologic impact section of this document, Section
VIII. With the acceptance of the hydrologic monitoring stipulations, the
Division finds that there is sufficient information within the permit
application to find this section in compliance.
VI. Water Ri hts and Replacement - Rules 2.04.7(3), 2.05.6(3)(ii),
2.0 c an ~ .b
Information pertaining to water rights was presented on pages 34-38, 94-95,
JFSA 13-59 and JFSA 65-83 of the permit application.
The existing water rights within the permit and adjacent area are limited to
the alluvial aquifer in Oak Creek utilized by the town of Rockvale and the
well Completed in the Caldirola Mine utilized for emergency purposes by the
town of Coal Creek (see Figure 2).
