INTRODUCTION <br />Purpose of this Document <br />This document presents the findings of compliance and the proposed decision of the <br />Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) for the Termination of <br />Jurisdiction (TOJ) at the New Pryor Mine, permit # C-81-031. The New Pryor <br />Mine is abond-revoked site. The permit area under consideration for termination of <br />jurisdiction and final liability release is 138 acres of which approximately 22 acres <br />was disturbed and subsequently reclaimed. This termination of jurisdiction process <br />was initiated by the Division following two years of vegetation sampling at the site <br />and completion of the required minimum ten-year liability period for reclamation and <br />revegetation of the disturbed area. <br />Background Information Sources <br />The Division will follow the requirements for review, public notice, and public <br />participation as required for a bond release application in Accordance with Rule 3.03. <br />Detailed information about the bond release review process can be found in the <br />Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, the Regulations of the Colorado <br />Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining, and in the Guideline Retarding <br />Selected Coal Mine Bond Release Issues, dated April 18, 1995. Detailed information <br />about mining and reclamation operations at New Pryor Mine can be found in mining <br />and reclamation permit application (# C-81-031) and associated records on file at the <br />Division offices, located at 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, in Denver, Colorado. <br />Location of Area Under Consideration for Termination of Jurisdiction <br />The New Pryor Mine is located near the town of Pryor in Huerfano County about 1.5 <br />miles west of the Pryor exit (Rouse Road) off of I-25. The permit area lies within the <br />SWl/4 Section 19, T29S R65W. <br />
