J
White F;fiver Nahcolite Minerals
~,:
October 21, 1999 , .. ~ ~
~~ l~~ ~~
Mr. John Mehlhoff, Area Manager
White River Resource Area
Bureau of Land Management
73544 Highway 64
Meeker, CO 81641
SUBJECT: Request to Delete Stream Gauging Stations
Dear Mr. Mehlhoff:
As a result of a second sodium minerals project having the responsibility for stream
gauging station monitoring in the Piceance Basin, WRN would like to split the
funding burden. I understand the rational for Am Soda's responsibility is based on
the location of their plant site in the Piceance Creek drainage. Because of the
location of the Am Soda site, they are only required to fund the two gauging station
on Piceance Creek. Based on this logic, WRN is located in the Yellow Creek
drainage and should only be funding the two Yellow Creek stations.
Therefore, we would like to request approval for a change in WRN's monitoring
plan to include only the t,HO stream gauging stations on Yellow Creek. The two
stations are know as Con-al Gulch and Yellow Creek at White River. Section II of
WRNS Monitoring Plan would be revised (as shown on attached page 25), if this
proposal is approved.
If there are any questions please contact me or WRNS Project Manager, Bob
Warneke.
Sincerely,
~~~
Ed Baker, REM
E/H/S Manager
CC: EPA
DMG
Whlte Rlvsr IJaheollte Mlnsrele.
