Any of the mulching procedures used above, shall be used according to the <br />specifications below. <br />1. Hwy or straw mulch. crimped <br />Hay or suaw mulch shall be applied uniformly at a rate of two tons per acre. Mulch <br />shall be pest and weed free. Approximately 30 percent by weight of the mulch <br />material shall be ten inches in length or longer. Rotted, caked, decayed or moldy <br />material will not be accepted. A mulch crimper shall be used to anchor the mulch <br />into the soil after the hay or suaw has been spread. The crimper shall be equipped <br />with scrapers to keep the blades clean. Spacing of crimper blades shall not exceed <br />nine inches. On areas less than one acre, crimping may be achieved by hand with <br />a suitable tool, such as a spade, on eighteen inch centers. <br />2. icy or straw mulch with tackifier <br />Hay or suaw mulch shall be applied as in treatment number 1 above, except for <br />crimping. Anon-asphalt tackifier shall be applied uniformly over the mulch at a rate <br />of 120 pounds per acre or, in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. <br />3. Hwy or straw mulch with nettinY <br />Hay or straw mulch shall be applied as in treatment number 1 above, except for <br />crimping. Erosion control netting shall be applied over the suaw. The erosion <br />control netting shall be AMXCO polypropylene netting as manufactured by <br />American Excelsior Company, or equivalent. <br />The netting shall be extruded polypropylene with approximately 1.5 x 13 strands per <br />inch, with a mesh opening of approximately 5/8 x 3/4". The netting shall be green. <br />The netting shall be installed in conformance with manufacture specifications. <br />Netting shall be rolled over the slope in the direction of water flow and stapled in <br />place with 6" wire staples. Staple pattern and density shall be in conformance with <br />manufacturer's recommendation for given slope length/gradient combinations. The <br />uphill end of each roll shall be anchored by burying the end of the roll with <br />approximately 6" of cover material. <br />4. ~dromulch with tackifier <br />Hydromulch shall be applied at a rate of one and a half (1 1/2) tons per acre. <br />Mulch shall be applied after seeding and not later that 24 hours after seeding. <br />Hydromulch shall consist of a virgin wood fiber mulch manufactured from 100% <br />whole wood chips. A minimum 30% of the wood fibers shall be .15 inches or longer. <br />The wood fiber shall contain awater-soluble non-toxic dye to insure uniform <br />application The hydromulch shall include anon-asphalt tackifier to be applied at <br />a rate of 60 pounds per acre or, according to manufacturer's recommendations. <br />15 <br />
