Box 467 ~
Golden, Colorado 80401
Re: Coors Keenesburg Mine Reclamation Schedule Permit No. C-028-81
Dear Mr. Campbell:
During our last inspection of your mine on January 4, 1985 we discussed the
timetable for conducting retopsoiling of the backfilled and graded spoils.
You indicated that Coors was not redistributing topsoil on backfilled areas
since there is some question concerning stability. Coors is in the process of
completing a stability analysis.
As we discussed during the inspection the Division was to consider how much of
a setback buffer might be needed worst case so that Coors could start
retopsoiling the remaining areas pending submittal of the stability analysis.
Attached is a memo from Jim Pendleton of our staff who has recommended a
setback buffer of 2 times the pit depth. If Coors agrees this is a worst case
projection of a failure plan (2h:1V), then retopsoiling of the remaining areas
should begin pending the results of the stability analysis.
If you have any questions please contact me.
Sincerely, v ~ /~'
Robert G.
