1
L1
1

CRAPTERFOUR Environmental conseyuences
activities would be short term and/or temporary. Based on project assumptions, the total fugitive
dust emissions would be approximately 203 tons over the 6 months of site construction.
Effects of Operation
Piceance Site
Process emission sources at the Piceance initial processing plant include a diesel gas-fired
emergency generator, a diesel fire water pump, boiler stack, and cooling tower. The initial
processing plant contains the well injection pumping system and two steam stripping towers that
would strip COz from the mine water solution. Some of the COZ is liquefied, stored, and
transferred to the Pazachute processing facility. Maximum estimated annual emissions from the
sources of air pollutants listed above for the Piceance Site aze summarized in Table 4.5-1. This
facility will be required to obtain a construction permit in accordance with Colorado Air
Pollution Control Regulations. Table D-1 in Appendix D provides further detail by presenting
the maximum estimated annual emissions for each source at the Piceance Site.
TABLE 4.5-1
MAXIMUM ESTIMATED ANNUAL OPERATION EMISSIONS
PICEANCE AND PARACHUTE SITES
' Source: RTP 1998a,b
Some fugitive dust is expected to result from the processing plant operations traffic on the paved
and unpaved roads. Although this fugitive dust would cause some localized visible dust, the
emissions aze expected to be localized and temporary and would not be significant.
Pipeline
The pipeline would not have any significant process emission sources. Therefore, annual
emissions aze not estimated for the pipeline.
Some fugitive dust may result from maintenance or repair operations, and associated traffic.
Although this fugitive dust would cause some localized visible dust, the emissions aze expected
to be temporary and would not be significant.
Parachute Site
' Process emission sources at the Pazachute Site include: a dryer scrubber stack; a baghouse stack;
a dryer electrostatic precipitator exhaust stack; a boiler stack; a cooling tower; a diesel gas-fired
emergency generator; a diesel fire water pump; and secondary ventilation emission sources,
including various bagger, storage bin, packaging azea, and loadout azea dust collectors.
Meteorology and Air Quality 4-21
