EXHIBIT J <br />VEG.ETATIDN INFDRMATIDN <br />• INTRDDUCTIDN• <br />As was the case with the sails, the vegetation description must be <br />broken into two parts. Dn the one hand, is that area west of Academy <br />Boulevard where the long history of disturbance has essentially created a <br />waste area where the only significant vegetation is composed primarily of <br />weeds and a few opportunistic native grasses. <br />Dn the east side of Academy the situation is quite different. In most <br />areas the vegetation is in excellent condition. Some areas however have <br />experienced more recent severe disturbances and either have no vegetation <br />at all or the vegetation, like the west side of Academy, is primarily <br />composed of weedy species. <br /> The vegetation map (Exhibit J-1) shows the various comaunities on the <br />• east side of Rcadeay, but on the west side of Academy the vegetation has <br /> been lumped into one unit, Disturbed. The descriptions to follow will <br />describe these various units. <br />EAST SIDE OF ACADEMY: <br />---- ---- -- -------- <br />The vegetation of this area is remarkably uniform and in rather good <br />condition far the aost part. There are areas where the vegetation is <br />absent or composed primarily of weeds, but over mast of the site, the <br />vegetation is in rather good Condition. The vegetation map (Exhibit J-1) <br />shows the distribution of the connunities within the area under discussion <br />in this section. <br />There are two broad units found on this area. Dn the one hand there <br />are the disturbed areas which include current mining areas and old <br />• cultivated areas.
