In 1973, a thicty- <br />five year contract was signed between Utah International Inc. and the participants <br />in the Craig Generating Station for coal deliveries to power two 400 megawatt <br />electric generators. The construction of the first of three thirty-cubic-yard <br />walking draglines started in February, 1976. The Shop and Warehouse buildings were <br />completed in November of 1975, while the office complex was completed in November <br />of 1976. Actual mining operations began in April, 1977, with initial coal <br />deliveries beginning August 10th, 1978 for Unit IF2 of the Craig Power Plant. <br />
