application. No additional surface facilities are planned for
construction during this five-year permit term.
All of the facilities at the loadout were removed during the
last permit term.
III. Hydroloaic Balance
A. Water Quality Standards and Effluent Limitations
The Division has approved small area exemptions (SAE'S)
from the use of sediment ponds due to the limited size of
the area and due to the fact that the ponds and treatment
facilities are not necessary for the drainage to meet the
effluent limitations of Rule 4.05.2 and applicable State
and Federal water quality standards for receiving streams
and also due to the fact that no mixing of surface
drainage with a discharge from underground workings will
occur. The small areas to be exempted are the following:
Mine Site
1. Rock dust storage facility: Technical Revision
No.17, approved 12/13/93, provided the SAE
demonstrations for use of a silt fence in this area
for sediment control.
2. Monarch (South) Mine Fan: Technical Revision No.17,
approved 12/13/93, provided SAE demonstrations for
the area, with use of a silt fence for sediment
control.
3. Substation No.2: Technical Revision No. 15, approved
12/1193 provided SAE demonstrations for this area.
4. Explosives Bunker: Technical Revision No. 15,
approved 12/1/93, provided SAE demonstrations for
this area, with the use of a silt fence for
sediment control.
5. Topsoil pile M-1: Surface runoff is contained in a
catchment basin, which drains to the facility area
and eventually to Sediment Pond No.5.
Southfield Mine Permit Renewal 03
33
