Dear Mr. Mathews:
Re: Reclamation Schedule
During your last inspection you requested CYCC provide a schedule for
completing various ongoing reclamation activities at the mine. The
following provides a workable schedule for completing the various activities.
In reference to Mine No. 3, the north sedimentation pond maintenance
work has been completed and the pond is now being surveyed. The pond
certification will follow within 30-45 days of completion of the project.
The work on the filter fence above the Homestead Ditch at Mine 3 was
completed in August.
At Mines 1,2, and Eckman Park, the pond F excavation work will begin in
late October. Additional material must be excavated to meet the pond's
storage design. The pond certification will follow within 30-45 days of
completion of the project.
The other activities in Eckman Park include the following: channel
repair in areas 7, 31, 41, 51 and 51E; topsoiling in areas 9 10 and 41;
pit backfilling in areas 51 and 61.
Now that approval for the Post-mining Topography and Channel Repair
permit revision has been received topsoiling and channel repair can
commence. CYCC plans to complete most of the topsoiling in area 41 this
year. It is anticipated that work will then commence on Areas 9 & 10 and
the area 41 channel repair. Once this is completed, work will begin on the
other channels, depending upon severity of working conditions (primarily
weather}. The remaining channel repair will be done following the •1988
spring runoff and all of the channels will be repaired and any remaining
topsoiling in areas 9, and 10 completed by the end of the 1988 field season.
We briefly discussed topsoiling activities in Areas 51 and 61, and I
would like to present additional information on these areas. Area 51 will
not be topsoiled until mining is completed in the area. The delay in
topsoiling is needed so that sufficient spoil is available for blending the
