Mr. David Berry <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />Page 3 <br />appropriate contractor assistance in spring of 2005, depending upon the type and amount of work <br />accomplished during the remainder of the year, and the 2005 requirements. <br />OTHER COMPLIANCE RELATED PROJECTS <br />A number of other smaller projects exist as a result of Division inspections, SCC internal <br />reclamation assessments, or items identified by the Division during the September 23, 2004 <br />meeting. A discussion of the projects, the status of field activities, and schedule for completion <br />of the projects organized by mine follows. <br />SENECA H <br />The Division noted the following items requiring attention at the September 23`s meeting: <br />I. Complete construction/reconstruction of the postmine drainages in Seneca H and <br />evaluate drainage density <br />Postmine drainage reconstruction and density (TR-36) is considered a major project and <br />pennitting task. As discussed previously the construction reconstruction activities have been <br />completed and TR-36 was submitted to address drainage density and contains designs for <br />additional channels. <br />2. Weed control problems <br />SCC completed approximately 200 hours of spraying between June and September. Spraying <br />has been discontinued for the remainder of the year. In 2005, SCC will conduct spring and <br />fall weed inventories to determine the nature and extent of the weed problems at Seneca II, <br />and conduct control activities as warranted. <br />SCC will submit the approved Routt County Weed Control Plan to DMG. <br />3. The ueed for SCC to evaluate/revise the revegetatiou success staudards. <br />Evaluation of the revegetation success standards was mentioned in the Division's midterm <br />permit review comments. As will be noted in SCC's response to the midterm review <br />comments to be submitted by November 1 Ts of this yeaz, SCC has retained ESCO Associates <br />to finalize the evaluation of the standards and assist SCC in preparing and submitting a <br />technical revision at the appropriate time. <br />SCC identified a number of areas with rills and gullies that warranted repair. The initial repair <br />work was completed in June 2004 and the repair areas were reseeded. Additional work is <br />ongoing, and will be completed by the end of the year. <br />SENECA H-W <br />The Division discussed eight action items at the September 23`" meeting: <br />
