SEP 14 '95 06~40PM BRLL PRCKRGIfVG COC P.3i4
• •
Another and well founded concern is that the force of the blasts aze weakening the
structures around my home and well. l question whether the underground fractures of
where I might be getting the water to my well are receiving wn+pn+c.~+±on from the
coaunercial mining? As large as these blasts are they could easily modify, create or
change the current formation without me knowing it. I would then be drinking poison.
I have heard that my neighbor Linda Ballard has complained that they are knocking items
off of her shelves.
As a resident of the State of Colorado and the City of Boulder I feel that all of these
concerns should be eliminated completely This mining company is not from this area and
they have little concern with how we long term residents live and the quality of life that
we demand.
As an example: When I expressed my above stated concerns to the foreman of the
job h.e retorted to me - do you use a chain saw? he obviously was try to justify his using
dynamite and running generators to me using a chain saw. I only use chain saws a few
hours each year as well as my neighbors. In my view that example doesn't pull any
weight.
My phone call to the Boulder County Sheriffs department on this Thursday resulted in a
Deputy Brit Fel traveling to the mine site and he informed me through another deputy
(Patrick Gallahger} that they were blasting illegally. This is not the first time that this
company has been caught operating illegally. They (I believe) were cited early this spring
about their usage of water from a abandoned mine shaft which is located very close to the
current open mine. That water was used, then expelled and drained down the drainage
gulch located just behind my well area. The water had a white color as it was draining,
sort of like the color of cement.
What other areas are they operating in that are considered illegal grey or hapha~rd and is
there any agency that is assigned to watch and govern what they do. Is it up to us
residents to setup shop to watch over them?
Can tt resident of Sunshine canyon/property owner just hire some out of state commercial
entit)~ to come in and blast the kell out oja mountain commwlly/pollute the air in a
small locat/on /!ke Sunshine with diesel fwnes fiom a generator that is running jroni
09:Ot9 tiU 19:00 hours, blasting on Sundays at 18:00 hours with ten charges peg
blasting octivlty, b/astinQ wilhi~ a few meters of a schoo bus stnn on Wednesday
blasting within 150 feet of one rental house, blasting within 300 feet of my house and
my neighbors house, use vary scarce ground water and drain it away with who knows
what !n 11, into a drainage area that drains into North Boulder, not Inform folks us
writu7g when they are blasting, opera[e this mine without current legal permits, operate
this aline without a watch dog group, there is a camper on the site are they living in it?
and only God knows what else???
