A NAPP 1:40,000 aerial photo (~Io. 6672.72) flown 630/'83, was scanned, the image was zoomed to 899z and the distance was by computer to be 688 &. The conclusion is that the house may be a 20 ft. closer to the mine workings than the distance need is the evaluations to q ~. ~ 5 WOODWARD-CLYDE CONBULTANTB 6TUDY Ia 1881 the Department of Energy Contracted a study of the "Characterization of Subsidence aver Longwell Mining Panels", to Woodward-Clyde Conaultante of San l?5raacisoo Califoraie, Contract No. DE-AC22-80PC80117. The report is dated September 18.1882. This study was conducted at the Allen Mine (Golden Eagle) near Weston, CO. I borrowed a Dopy of his report 4+om the Denver office of the U $ Bataan of Mines. The purpose of this study was part of a program aoaducted by the Department of Energy to develop a relevant data base of Information to impmve subsidence prediction teohniQues in each of the moor coal fields in the United Staten with the tent of perhaps ezpanding coal production. The Allen Mine wa8 chosen as representative of the Roc14' Mountain Coal Pravlace. The study consisted of establiahine surthce and underground monitoring points on two coal mining panels one of which was a longwall panel and the other included room sad pillar data. Baseline measurements were made 12/17/81 and final headings wore taken 8/6/82. The study was terminated 2 years earlier than pLinned because of s oanoellataon of the program by DOE, sad although the prcdect was turned over to the USBM, it was never ttiinded. .....
