•
CASTLE CONCRE'~E COMPANY'S
MINED LAND RECLAMATION ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ / ~ D
1987-88 ANNUAL REPORT FOR: SAND PIT ~/
PERMIT NUMBER: M-77-213 MAY 2 6 1988
MINED LAND
DATE OF INSPECTION FOR DATA IN REPORT: MAY 1988. RECLAMATION JI'JISiL,N
SUMMARY:
Because of the severely depressed aggregate market there
was little activity which occurred at this operation. A
small amount of sand was extracted from about 3.5 acres
within the pit. More activity occurred in reclamation.
About .5 acre was seeded within the permit and about 3
acres on adjacent land outside the permit. A support berm
was initiated, more backfilling done, and plans initiated
to correct the drainage problems from adjacent land into
the pit area.
RULE 2.41 1 LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES AFFECTED DURING THAT YEAR.
Because of the severely depressed aggregate market currently
affecting the Colorado Springs area, very little additional land was
affected this year as compared to last year. Material was extracted
from about 3.5 acres of land, but the actual volume of material removed
was greatly reduced when compared to the annual production for the last
couple of years. In fact, during the last year, there was more action
taken in [he reclamation category than occurred in the mining category.
A small amount of sand was removed from the southwest and west sides
of the operation. These areas are shown on the attached map. Most of this
extraction occurred from the dike area separating this operation from the
Daniels Sand Pit #2 to the south. Bp mutual agreement with Daniels Sand,
some material was removed from the south side and top of the dike by
Daniels Sand to supplement their production. The reason for this joint
mining of the dike area is an attempt to remove the dike area as quickly as
possible so the land contained in this permit and in the Daniels Sand
permit can be merged and made available for development as soon as
possible. Unfortunately, the depressed market has severely hampered this
effort to remove the dike.
RULE 2.41 2 LOCATIONS AND NUMBER OF ACRES RECLAIMED FOR THAT YEAR.
In the last year about 1.5 acres was actually placed in a reclamation
status. Much of this land was already in this category, but the efforts
during this year acted to elevate the status of the land somewhat.
Page 1 of 3 1988 SAND PIT ANNUAL REPORT
