Weight: 1401b
Terminated with 2 Y-molded NK-27 Connector
Stress-Relief Anchor at top and bottom
Well Fluid Displacement
Upon completion of the seismic tests, ASLLP will displace the fluid in the top
ten feet of the cavity by injecting nitrogen, carbon dioxide, or methane gas on the
short 4'/s" tubing or the 7" casing and recovering the fluid from the 4'/z' long
tubing. The volume of gas and the volume of fluid will be measured. The
intertace between the gas and the fluid within the cavity will be determined by a
temperature profile down the 4'/2' long tubing on a systematic basis.
American Soda is currently evaluating the type of gas to be used in the
displacement. The gases that are currently proposed are nitrogen, carbon
dioxide, or methane.
Flow and pressure measurement instrumentation will be installed on the
well pad to measure the gas flow to the well and the gas injection pressure.
The instrumentation data will be included in the ASLLP process control
system. An average data point will be retrieved every 10 seconds. This data will
reside within the ASLLP PI Data Historian software for monitoring and
documentation. This system has the flexibility to provide data in any format
chosen. At present, ASLLP envisions providing daily averages for all measured
parameters for agency oversight.
Upon completion of the solution mining phase, approximately 200,000
tons of nahcolite will have been produced. The cavity volume will contain 25 -
30 million gallons of fluid. This fluid will contain between 22 - 27 thousand tons
of nahcolite in solution. Assuming a 2 - 3% displacement (10-20 feet),
approximately 1,000,000 gallons of fluid will be displaced. This fluid will contain
approximately 972 tons of NaHCO3 in solution. At a displacement rate of 50
gallons per minute, the displacement will take 12 - 18 days to complete.
Depending upon the gas selected, 176 - 487 tons of gas will be required to
displace the cavity.
Cavity Fluid Displacement Procedure
Upon completion of the seismic modeling phase, the fluid displacement
phase can be initiated. The procedures for displacing the fluid from a well are as
follows:
