crossing and directly adjacent to Taylor Gulch. The existing dump slope is app. 2:1.
Colorado Mazble requests a variance from the normal standazd of fmal slope grade for
this limited azea. Aggressive slope manipulation techniques (contour furrowing) will be
employed to stabilize the steep rocky slope and prepare it for re-vegetation. Final
reclamation of the tops of the waste rock piles will be to finish grade all slopes and top,
flatter areas utilizing contour furrowing, which will minimize surface run off delivered to
the access road ditches and ultimately to the bottom-most sediment catchment structure.
ii) It is noted that the small tributaries located below the existing rock dump will need
to be filled with hazd, durable, non-slaking coazse grained waste rock to promote under
drainage of the constructed rockpiles.
4. Highwall Design
a. Colorado Mazble, Inc., commits to creation of a sepazate section in each annual
reclamation report that describes geotechnical observations and tests conducted over the
previous yeaz and reports on the design and construction of highwalls and benches based
on the geotechnical investigations.
b. The cross section of highwall configuration is re-submitted showing completed
highwall configuration at eastern side of the mine pit.
c. For purposes statements referring to eventual backfilling of the pit, waste rock
placement will be made to conform with final standazd sitewide, 3:1 slope configuration.
Backfilling of the main pit azea will also conform to minimum requirements of storage
capacity for potential storm water management control.
5. The backfilling of the off-site road cut was performed during the third and fourth
week of September, and was carried out per DMG instructions of not using fine
grained waste rock, proper compaction of rocky waste rock from neazby, and
utilization of top-soil materials for surface grading. The app..2 acre former road
cut was backfilled with coarse waste rock, compacted with a D-9 bulldozer at one
foot lifts, and capped with a minimum of one foot of topsoil material gleaned
from within a few feet away, made accessible from channel construction for
Taylor Gulch rip-rapping.
I hope that the information contained herein will be helpful to the Division in there
review of adequacy.
Very~T.ru~ly., Yopurs,
`~ ~
Kenneth S.
