The area [o be mined will be split into three phases t 8 acres each. Phase 1 encompasses
the current mining activity, and will continue to be mined for one year. The mining will
then move into phase 2, which will be mined for approximately one year as well. The
staging area in phase 1 will move into phase 2 at this time, and remain there for the
remaining life of the mine. Once phase 2 becomes active, reclamation of phase one will
begin. Phase 3 will commence immediately following phase 2, and will be mined for 3-4
years, giving the mine a life of 5-6 years. Phases 2 & 3, and the stockpile area at the base
of the hill will be reclaimed upon completion of mining of phase 3.
Slopes of 3H:1V will be left in place during mining, except for the mining face highwall,
which will be 20' x 20' benches, as per M.S.H.A. requirements, with a total cut depth of
+/- 65'. Sandstone, with 3'-5' of gray clay on top lies directly under the gravel deposit.
Water may be used as necessary for dust mitigation on the crusher, conveyor, and the
access road. Water use is not expected to exceed 750 gal. per. day, and will be hauled to
the site.
