Bayfield Pit # I
Adequacy Letter Response
Page 4
• The gas well is active. The buried gas line is abandoned but not removed. The map has been
changed to reflect the location of each.
Exhibit F cont.: Miscellaneous items which should be shown on this map, relevant to the mining
operation, include a delineation of the limits of the affected area, road locations within either of
the new areas, all topsoil and product stockpile locations, indication of direction of mining,
delineation of sepazate mining phases if any, and present vegetation indicating pasture and
wooded azeas.
^ The miscellaneous items, as described above, have been added to the mining map.
Exhibit F cont.: The Table of Areas and Acreages notes that the 1997 Amendment Area is 11.05
acres. This appears to indicate the area involved in this AM-03 application. The striped symbol
on the map depicts two blocks of land, each labeled "1997 Amendment Area". It appears that
the larger one is also referred to as "Phase 4". This is not correct, since this permit file includes
specific descriptions of the original four phases, and the additional three phases. Phase four, as
recognized by DMG, is midway along [he west side of the lazge pond, and consists of 1.14 acres.
You may have mistakenly referred to this new 10.3-acre area under the county's phase
numbering.
The amendment is proposing to combine the existing phases into three phases. These three
separate phases are shown on the mining map. The mining phases have also been outlined
earlier in this letter.
Exhibit D -Mining Plan: There are several statements included herein which need
clarification. Your mention above about the same phasing of mining, does not match this
Exhibit's statement of "one phase" of mining.
^ The mining will occur in three phases as depicted on the mining map and as described
previously in this letter.
Exhibit D cont.: You state that mining will proceed through the "divider of future lakes" which
is neither described here nor represented in Exhibit C. That is followed by [he phrase that it will
be "reconstructed as part of reclamation".
Mining will occur between the divider of the two lakes as shown in Phase I and Phase III.
Mining of this divider will occur during Phase III. This area will be reclaimed and maybe
diked once mining has been completed in Phase III.
Exhibit D cont.: Please provide infomration about the dewatering and mining of the pasture east
of the batch plant.
