Morgan, CO 80701 <br />RE: Barlow Pit; Petmit No. M-74-092 <br />Technical Revision 001 <br />Dear Mr. Dowling, <br />On May 7, 1999, the Division received the complete technical revision for the Barlow Pit, Permit No. <br />M-74-092. The revision was submitted by Dorn Ready Mix as a result of the Division's Febntary 3, <br />1999 inspection of the site. The Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) is required to make an <br />approval or denial decision no later than June 7, 1999, therefore, your response to the following <br />adequacy review concerns should be submitted to the Division as soon as possible. If you feel more <br />time is needed to complete your reply, an extension to the decision date can be granted by the Division. <br />This will be done upon receipt of a written waiver of your right to a decision by June 7, 1999 and <br />request for additional time. This must be received no later than the deadline date. <br />The operator proposes to mine to a depth of 60 feet and exclude the island noted on the reclamation <br />map. The reclamation plan map will need to be revised to depict reclamation to a depth of 60 feet <br />and removal of the island. The reclamation plan map will need to depict contour intervals of the <br />reclaimed pit slopes and meet [he general exhibit requirements noted in Rule 6.2. <br />2. The operator states that sand will be pumped to place material along the shoreline of the pit to <br />achieve the required 3h:1 v and 2h:1 v slopes. Please inform the Division the current slope of the pit, <br />how much sand will be required to achieve the required 3h:ly and 2h:ly slopes, and the source of <br />the material. Please be aware that structural fill material from an outside source to be used for <br />reclamation must meet the requirements of Rule 3.1.5(9). A copy the rule is attached for your <br />reference. <br />3. The permit is being revised to dredge the Barlow Pit 60 feet deep. The operator will need to assure <br />the stability of all permanent man-made structures within 200 feet of the affected area. Rule 1.1(48) <br />defines "Structure, Sienificant, Valuable and Permanent Min-made" as anon-portable improvement <br />to real property which has defined, current and recognizable value of an economic nature; generally <br />
