(Golder) has prepazed this letter for the Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining <br />Company (CC&V) presenting the results of the physical and hydraulic testing conducted on bentonite <br />amended Soil Liner Fill (SLF) soils from the East Cresson Mine (Altman Mine) azea. The purpose of <br />' this testing program was to define the level of bentonite amendment for the East Cresson Mine soils <br />to meet the requirements of the Phase IV Technical Specifications for SLF. <br />Based on laboratory testing conducted on soil samples from the East Cresson Mine SLF borrow <br />source, the soil can be used for construction of the Phase IV VLF based on the recommendafions <br />outlined in the following table. <br />y°~'i~`~~` - ~a~ aeBa`u "`"~11Mo>fstur`e " `~- <br />anree< ~~ -~-..„~ ~: ~~5. S` ectfica onf ~. ~°. ~; -~~ <br />East Cresson Min. 95% -3 to +3% of OMC Y+3% by dry weight <br />Mine azea ASTM D698 <br />OMC refers to the optimum moisture content. <br />The following sections present the laboratory tests and test results for the East Cresson Mine SLF <br />soils. <br />TESTING PROGRAM <br />Soil samples from the East Cresson Mine SLF borrow source were sent to Golder's geotechnical <br />laboratory located in Lakewood, Colorado, for index, permeability, and liner load testing. Interface <br />sheaz testing was also conducted on select samples. These tests were conducted at Golder's <br />geotechnical [aboratory located in Atlanta, Georgia. The laboratory test program consisted of the <br />following: <br />• Sieve Analyses (ASTM C 136) - 12 tests; <br />• Atterbetg Limits (ASTM D4318) - 12 tests; <br />• Standazd Froctor Compaction (ASTM D698) - 7 tests; <br />OFFICES ACROSS ASIA.
