o The Colony mine ventilation portals are to be located on both the east
and west sides of the Middle Fork canyon. The east vent portal will
be accessed from the Colony Pilot Mine, and the west vent portal will
be accessed from the main plant road. Because of its proximity to the
main access road, construction of the west vent portal could create a
future scheduling problem if the work is carried out coincident with
other major projects at the site. Construction of the west vent portal
has therefore been included as a potential project for the period 1985
r--
through 1989. Completion of the mine bench, as previously discussed,
will facilitate this construction effort. The location of the portal
bench is shown on Exhibit D-10.
• o In order to reduce potential problems associated with transportation
and supply during construction, it is planned to pave that portion of
~ ~ the main access road which is not expected to receive heavy off-road
ClL/ traffic in the future. Essentially, this will include the three miles
~/ (approximate) from CR215 to the Colony shops, as shown on Exhibits D-10
and D-11. Paving this portion of the road, which receives the most
traffic, will also reduce maintenance and dust suppression costs.
As engineering and scheduling details for these and other potential projects are
developed, Exxon will continue to update the MLRD by means of the annual report
as required by Rule 2.41 (7) of the Mined Land Reclamation Act.
. D-7
