The mean annual precipitation is 14 to 16
inches, the mean annual air temperature is 36o to 39° F, and the frost-free
season is 30 to 40 days.
In a representative profile, the surface layer is pale brroam sandy loam
about 6 inches thick. aye upper part of the subsoil is broom heavy sandy loam
' about 4 inches thick, and the lower part is light olive bzvwn sandy clay loam
about 20 inr3les thick. aye underlying material is light yellowish brown lardy
Y loam.
Permeability is moderate, and the available Grater capacity is high. These
soils support vegetation that is used mainly for grazing. Some areas are used
for irrigated hay arri pasture.
are Fluetsch-Tiag~ association is ~- old alluvial fans, outwash tenaoes,
and valley sides. Slopes are 2 to 20 peroent. 'Ihe
proportion of each soil varies slightly from place to place. Fluetsch sarrly loam
has convex, more gentle slopes. aie Tiagos lardy loam is on side slopes and in
protected areas. Hoch soils have the profiles described as rep*+P~'+*ative of
their z~spective series.
Included with this assxiation in mapping are a few small areas of Tealsen
soils in saddles of ridges, Boller soils in small, mesalike areas, aryl shallow
QYortltestts on exp~ed ridges and maul of sardstase. Giese inclusions make up
abaft 10 peroent of this association. CYyorthents (steep), makes up about 5 to
20 percent of the association.
Runoff is medium on the Fluetsch soil and slow on the Tiagos soil.
