GROUND WATER - A separation exists between the lowest elevation in the extraction
area and the ground water. An engineering study has been conducted which indicates that
the water standing at the lowest elevation in the pit area is surface runoff from precipitation
and irrigation waste water. A copy of the study can be found at the end of this exhibit.
Data for existing wells in the vicinity was obtained from the Colorado Division of Water
Resources and is utilized to determine the elevation of the water table for the Roaring Fork
aquifer. Two wells were analyzed, the existing well within the permit boundary and a well
servicing the Woody Creek Mobile Home Park. By using this data a cross section
depicting the elevation of the normal static water surface in relationship to the mining
activities was prepared and is shown on Exhibit E.
G-2
