•
The mixture will be planted between March 15 and April 15 . It
will receive initial fertilization at one-third the full rate
indicated by soil tests made during the February preceding the
planting. In mid-September, following the first growing season,
the area will be fertilized again at the full rate indicted by
the soil tests. This system will help give the grasses a start
without boosting weed growth excessively and then boost the
grass root growth during a time when weeds are dormant. It is
anticipated that by using this system the Smooth Brome-
Intermediate Wheatgrass combination will be effective in keeping
weed growth to a minimum during the second season. If such is
not the case, some weed control measures may be implemented, but
this is not expected to be more than a mere possibility.
Tree and shrub planting will occur the first spring ( late April
to late May) following grass seeding. Trees will be planted at
intervals of 40 feet, with a minimum of 5 shrubs planted between
the trees along a 300 foot stretch of the City Trail and consist
of an assortment of 5 gallon potted trees and shrubs from the
following mix. Each tree and shrub will be given a heavy
initial watering followed by a heavy watering biweekly until
mid-June . The trees and shrubs will be watered heavily in late
September, and thereafter they will establish themselves on
ground water sources.
Shrubs: Silver Buffaloberry
Currant
Rabbitbrush
Willow
Serviceberry
Native Shrub Rose
Snowberry
Trees: Narrowleaf Cottonwood
Sargents Cottonwood (cottonless variety)
Chockcherry
Wild Plum
River Hawthorne
Rabbitbrush
Russian Olive
Contingency Plan for Industrial Site
It is hoped that the industrial site will be developed
immediately upon completion of mining and backfilling
activities. However, in the event such development does not
occur, a contingency plan is hereby submitted. The plan assumes
that some kind of development will occur.
In the event of development not beginning within one year of
completion of mining and backfilling, the area will be planted
with the following mixture of grasses and legume:
-6A-
