Box 591, Somerset, CO
81434, (970) 929-5015, has filed a complete application for Phase I Bond Release of the
Lone Pine Gulch Area, to Mining and Reclamation Permit No. C-80-007, with the
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Boazd (Boazd), under the provisions of the Colorado
Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act of 1979. MCC is requesting Phase I Bond Release
of the Lone Pine Gulch Area. The original reclamation bond amount for this azea was
unavailable. The current amount, however, is $76,561.96. MCC is requesting the release
of $45,937.18, which is 60 percent of the current amount. MCC began reclaiming this
azea in April of 2002 and completed it in May 2002. Reclamation included sealing two
mine portals, backfilling and regrading the azea and installation of drainage control. The
Lone Pine Gulch Area consists of 4.5 acres of private land and is specifically located in
the Southeast'/< of Section 18, Township 13 South, Range 90 West. The current permit
was originally issued by the Board in July 1981, reissued August 1986, January 1993,
(Effective August 1991), July 1996, and renewed July 31, 2001. The five-year permit
term expires July 31, 2006. The West Elk Mine five-year permit azea contains lands in
Sections 9-11, 13-3Q and 34-36, Township 13 South, Range 90 West, 6`h PM; and
Sections 23-26, Township 13 South, Range 91 West, 4`h PM in Delta and Gunnison
Counties. The azea is found on the USGS 7.5 minute Somerset Quadrangle Topographic
• Map. The current permit azea encompasses approximately 9,696.3 acres. No proposed
increase in disturbed azea or production will occur as a result of this Phase I Bond
Release.
A copy of the Phase I Bond Release application is available for review at the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology (CDMG) Office, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman
Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado, 80203, phone (303) 866-3567, and the Gunnison
County Planning Department, 200 E.
