._ ~• -2-
9. 3.1.6, Water
Since there is very little irrigation with surface water
in the surrounding area, the surface will not be a
problem as far as the ground water that rises when the
canal turns their water on. The pit is subject to
irregular depth's according to the amount of water ~
~ in the canal and since there is nod mining when there
is water in the pit, this should minimize the disturbance.
When the canal and ditches are turned off in the fall of
the year, the impounded water filters back through the
sand and gravel.
11. Asphalt plant
Rio Grande County does not plan to move their asphalt
plant to the 374 nit. It will be kept at the Del Norte
nit and crushed material from the 374 pit will be trans-
ported to the ashalt plant.
12. Refer to Exhibit G.
13. Rule 3.1.5 (9) Any topsoil imported will be compatible
with the topsoil at the pit site.
14. 6.4.5(2)(f)(v) The County will work with the crusher
people to save all topsoil possible. All topsoil not
needed for the blending of crushed material will be
stockpiled.
15. 6.4.4 (2)(e) Reclamation
The County does plan to start reclamation on the areas
that have all ready been mined. - 41est and north
embankments of the main nit and east embankment of the
small nit.
16. 6.4.6 (Ex.F) The contour lines will be added to the map.
17. 6.4.7 (Ex.G) The use of this pit as a water recharge nit
is in the planning stage at this time. In visiting with
Commisioner Mel Getz, he informed me that a contract
agreement has been approved by the three boards- Rio Grande
County Commissioners, Rio Grande Water User's Association,
and the Rio Grande Water Conservation District. In light
of this proposed agreement, we can change the Host mining
land use to developed water resources and rangeland.
18. 6.4.13 (Ex.M) The State Health Department has monitored
our asphalt plant operation in the mast years.
Respectfully submitted,
~.C~r~
Fred W. Olme
Road Supervisor
