1, An analysis of the effects of mining this area on water rights
should be supplied.
2. A large landslide eaiste within the permit area. It is not
delineated on any maps, nor ie it discussed in the application.
Impacts of .mining under the landslide should be assessed and
monitoring stations installed to detect movement. Additionally,
other areas of mass movements should be delineated and discussed.
3. Map 6, the Geology/Hydrology map, shows a different permit boundary
on the northers edge than the other maps. Which one is correct? It
also shows disturbance due to subsidence outside the permit area.
This should be corrected. No hydrology features or monitoring
stations are shown on this map. The regional geology map indicates
a contact between the.Mancos and the Mesa Verde formations
immediatelg adjacent to the permit area. Were any seeps or springs
detected along the contact? If so, they should be shown on this map.
4. The Regional Geology Map, Map 5, should delineate landslide and
alluvial deposits of concern to this approval including the large
landslide above Somerset and alluvium on the North Fork of the
Gunnison and in the Minnesota Creek drainage.
5. Alluvial valley floors should be discussed in reference to this new
disturbance.
