Long <br /> Divrsion Director <br />Re: Adequacy Review, Mekelburg Pit, File No. M-81-179, <br />Dear Mr. Brown: <br />Listed below are adequacy review comments on the above-captioned <br />permit application. The Division is required to make an approval <br />or denial decision no later than September 29, 1994, therefore, <br />your response to the following adequacy review concerns should be <br />submitted to the Division by September 26, 1994. If you feel more <br />time is needed to complete your reply, an extension to the decision <br />date can be granted by the Division. This will be done upon <br />receipt of a written waiver. of your right to a decision by <br />September 29, 1994 and request for additional time. This must be <br />received no later than September 28, 1994. <br />Attached are copies of letters from the State Historical Society, <br />the Army Corps of Engineers, the new Mineral Rules and Regulations <br />and the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Act. <br />1. The operator is referred to the first page of the application <br />on which the permitted acreage is listed as 160 acres. This <br />conflicts with the total acreage shown on the Exhibit C map of <br />113 acres. Please clear this discrepancy up. <br />If you intend to include a post mining land use other than <br />general agricultural, please describe. <br />State the expected thickness of the deposit to be mined and <br />the thickness of the overburden, if any. The existing permit <br />states that six inches of topsoil will be stripped and <br />salvaged for replacement during reclamation. Please confirm <br />if this is consistent with the area now being amended. <br />4. Specify the dimensions of any significant disturbances such as <br />pit excavations and stockpiles. Include the location(s) and <br />areal extent of topsoil and overburden stockpiles, the maximum <br />size of the pit anticipated at any one time, the area to be <br />stripped of topsoil, and an estimate of major, moderate and <br />
