• 13 •
pond. That pond is rued as a water source for the mining operations under this •and the
former permitted reclamation permit.
The next unit to be mined, the northwest excavation unit, shall be the 8-acre northwest
portion of the site located north of the central access road and west of the central drainage
arroyo. Posting of the financial warranty for this unit shall be delayed until stripping and
mining for this unit is ready to begin. Topsoil in depths of 6 to 12 inches shall be fast
stripped and stockpiled along the north side of the central access road bordering along the
south edge of the northwest unit. Mining at grade level with the central access road shall
begin at the southeast comer, north of the central access road about 155 feet, and proceed
north and west at full depth of the resource (estimated at 12 to 15 feet deep) to the
northwest comer of this unit and rho permit area boundar}•. Excavation shall be
"dayligltted" to the central drainage arroyo along the east edge of this unit. Headwall
backslopes at the north and west boundaries shall be excavated at 3H:1 V for stable final
backslopes. Processing and stockpiling for material from this mining unit shall occur in the
area beriveen the excavation and the central access road. iviining of the northwest mining
unit is expected to take 2 to 3 years to complete. Reclamation of [he initial north-central
mining area east of the central drainage arroyo should be complete by the time the
Northwest mining unit is begun. Financial warranties will be appropriately reduced for
portions reclaimed or partially reclaimed.
Next to be excavated shall be the 8-acre "feedlot" area located irrtmediately north of the
Doing ditch, west of the central drainage arroyo, and south of the central access road.
Posting of the financial warranty for the feedlot ertraction unit shall be delayed until
excavation of the prior northwest mining unit is nearing completion. Extraction within
the feedlot unit is expected to last 2 to 3 years, depending upon market conditions.
Gravel deposits are expected to vary in depth from 8 to 12 feet, and are underlain by the
weathered silty claystones of the bforrison formation, as aze all of the alluvial gravel
deposits to be mined at this site.
Topsoil preciously stripped from the surface in depths of 6 to 12 inches shall be spread
evenly over the graded, worked-out surface of the formerly mined northwest unit to begin
reclamation of that unit. Financial warranty reduction shall follow completed stages of
reclamation. Excavation shall begin at the southeast comer of the stripped feedlot unit
and proceed northerly and westerly to the west boundary fence at full depth of the gravel
deposits. Excavation shall be "dayligttted" to the east at the central drainage arroyo, and
sloped 3H:1V at the north edge headwall along the central access road, and a[ the west
boundary headwall. Gravel mined shall be processed and stockpiled to the south in the
open azea east of the central drainage arroyo and north of the Doing irrigation ditch. As
mining progresses westerly the mined-out pit azea shall be utilized for processing and
stockpiling by progressively shifting process equipment westerly to remain close to the
extraction area. Completion of mining in this unit shall complete extraction operations for
this pemtit azea. No incidental nor secondary products are expected to be produced in
this sand and gravel extraction and production operation.
