Harley
7523 Stonecliff Drive
Austin, Texas 78731
This letter is in response to an Apri122, 19961etter from Sterling Ready-Mix
Concrete Company notifyuhg me of the filing of a conversion application for the
above referenced permit. As the letter is not very specific about what changes are
proposed, I assume it to be a simple extension in the original time estimated for
completion of mining on the approximate 10 acres identified in Harley Pit #1.
While I do not wish to contest or cause any delay in the conversion application
currently before the Board, I am concerned about the natural springs located in
parcels of land adjacent to Harley Pit #1. These springs have been productive since
before my grandfather purchased the property and were purported to be favorite
camping sites for native Americans as they moved through the area. I have no
]mowledge about the specifics (direction, extent or elevation) of the aquifers that
support these springs. The original "Limited Lnpact Operation (110) Application
Form" provided in 1986 indicated that test holes at the site showed no evidence of
ground water but was not specific as to the depths of the test holes nor their
location.
~;,~
