~Mr. James Burnell
trolorfldo Division of Minerals and Geology (CDMG)
Minor Revision Number 304, MDW 24-OSB
June 3, 2005
below the sub-surface casing cut-off point (3-feet below the surface) will be plugged with a
cement cap. The top 3-feet of the casing will then be cut off and the hole filled in with subsoil.
A permanent mazker shall be installed on top of the plug identifying the MDW. The pad will
then be reclaimed to approximate original contour. A drawing depicting a typical abandoned
MDW is attached as Figure No. 1, Proposed GVB/MDW Hole Plugging Method.
The Methane Drainage Well drilling experience for Mountain Coal Company has shown that no
aquifers have yet been encountered. However, the procedures described above would serve to
properly protect any aquifers that would be encountered.
The azea has been previously disturbed.
The federal coal lease affected is COC-56447.
The entire drill pad azea and reclaimed roads will be re-seeded using the USFS/CDMG-agreed
seed mix for reclamation purposes on National Forest Service lands (correspondence regazding
MCC 2005 Annual Operating Plan dated May 13, 2005 from Levi Broyles, USFS to Mike
Peacock, MCC). The seed mix described below is for the mountain shrub habitat type.
S ecies PLS Ib/acre % Of Mia
Mountain brome ss 3 14
Prairie'une ss 2 10
Western wheat ass 4 19
Indian rice ss 3 14
Sandbar blue s 3 14
Bluebunch wheat ass 3 14
Eri eron s eciosus 1 5
Coreo sis lanceolata 1 5
Thermo sis montana 1 5
Total 20 100
This seed mixture will be a minimum of 99 percent pure live seed containing a maximum of 1
percent weeds none of which aze noxious.
