2.0 SUMMARY OF SITE RECLAMATION COMPLETED TO DATE
The following summary of completed activities is provided in a format consistent with the
itemized listing of reclamation activities compiled by the Division on December 15, 1998 (as
updated on March 9, 1999).
Item A-1: Reduce NE tailing pond slope by grading crest down into seep dam.
This activity is estimated to be 90% complete as of July 12, 1999. A portion of the extreme
eastern edge of the NE tailing pond formerly occupied by the colluvium stockpile remains in
anon-recontoured configuration due to the presence of remaining quantities of colluvium
growth material. The remainder of the NE tailing pond was recontoured to provide a positive
draining slope toward Canyon Creek substantially in conformance with the plans provided
in Technical Revision No. 1.
An approximately 6-inch lift of colluvial growth medium was uniformly applied across the
recontoured surface. A combination silt fencelstraw bale barrier was installed on an
intermediate level terreice, and a silt fence was installed on the former seep dam crest (lower
terrace). A limited portion of the embankment area along the northernmost edge of the
feature was excavated to a 2:1 horizontal to vertical slope and all access roadways were
provided with earthen berm barriers and/or locking gates to prevent unauthorized site access.
Camp Bird Colorado. Inc. has retained an access route to the remaining colluvium.
Quantities of this colluvium may be utilized to support next year's (Phase II) reclamation
activities, after which the remaining i0°1° final recontouring will be completed. Refer to
photographs 1-A through 1-D in Appendix A.
Division Calculated Bond Amount: $1,339.00
Release RequestAmount (90%): 51,205.00
Item A-2: Grade portions of surface of NW tailing pond to slope away from face.
Grade borrow area.
The surface of the NW tailing pond was recontoured to provide internal drainage from west
to east along aloes-grrdient, centrally-located longitudinal swale. The internal face of the
crest berm was reduced (sloped back) into the tailing pond surface. Perimeter areas were
generally blended into surrounding topography, and existing rock and vegetation features
were sculpted into the final recontoured surface. Surface drainage of the tailing
impoundment is routed along the internal swale to an 18-inch pipeline inlet feature comprised
of coarse (8-12 inch diameter) rock rip-rap. The 120-foot long HDPE pipeline routes surface
drainage directly to Canyon Creek via a pipeline outfall along the Canyon Creek bank.
