J
4. A 2 foot partial flume will be installed in the permanent diversion to
accurately measure flows from minor runoff events. The partial flume will
accurately measure flows from .4 cfs to 35 cfs. The location of the device
is shown on Exhibit G. Measurements will be made for all runoff events, the
results of which shall be submitted to the Division on a quarterly basis.
GROUND WATER MONITORING
Two ground water monitoring wells are to be installed as shown on Map No. 12.
These wells will be used to verify the unsaturated condition of the bedrock
below the coal processing waste site.
The holes will be monitored once monthly to verify depth to groundwater, if
present. Since the holes will be relatively shallow, a rod with a chalk line on
the side will be lowered down the hole to determine the water level.
Quality samples will be taken once every quarter. Expected flow is small,
therefore a bailer lowered into the hole will be used to extract a sample. The
samples will be immediately tested for PH, temperature and conductivity. The
sample will be placed in sealed, unreactive bottles and sent to the laboratory
within 24 hours. All the parameters on the attached sheet will be tested for
each sample at the laboratory.
D. H. EMLING COMPANY
