<br /> <br />WHEREAS, the tremors from blasting, noise, falling rock and <br />dust and fumes from digging, crushing, and hauling will have a <br />negative impact on the natural and recreational resources of our <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, this area is a valuable winter range for mule deer <br />and Bighorn sheep and that activities associated with mining and <br />hauling will adversely affect their migration route from Rampart <br />Range to Fountain Creek; and <br />WHEREAS, proposed truck routes and increased truck traffic <br />onto Highway 24 at the West entrance to Garden of the Gods poses <br />potential safety hazards for residents, guests, and business <br />travelers. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY TAE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLORADO SPRINGS: <br />That the City Council hereby opposes any mining operation <br />which would be detrimental to the safety and/or welfare of the <br />citizens and guests of Colorado Springs. <br />Dated at Colorado Springs, Colorado this day of <br />1989. <br />ATTEST: <br />Mayor <br />City Clerk <br />
