•
• that time.
C`
A3 is in use for water storage of precipitation which falls
within the cut, which is used for dust suppressant operations
on the CKD landfill. This usage will continue until the CKD
landfill operations have been completed in Area E3. Since
A3 and A9 are pre-law, the only reclamation required will be
that of redisturbed lands.
AS will receive material from the grading of the fourth cut
overburden piles on the west side of the cut to a 2:1 maximum
slope. This fill will be covered by material from the
"topsoil" overburden piles along the east side of the cut,
and seeded.
A6 and A7 have been reserved in the past for use as a water
supply reservoir, but that usage no longer appears necessary.
Reclamation on A7 will start in 1992, and reclamation on .46
will begin upon the completion of the A7 reclamation. Th~~
reclamation on A6 will consist of filling with the deeper
overburden pile, that is, the westernmost pile of overburden
on the east side of the cut, to be covered by the "topsoi:l"
overburden pile, the easternmost pile on the east side of the
quarry. This will then be seeded.
Current ouarrying operations are concentrated in are E1. J
The stripping was completed in early 1992, and four faca~s'are
being quarried for production rock. Some minor additional
production is coming from weathered material in E2 and E9,
but for simplification, this is not shown on the Time LinE~ of
Operations. When quarrying is completed in E1, and the CF:D
landfill in A2 is completed, the CKD landfill operation will
be moved to E1. When the CKD landfill operation is compleated c-
in E1, the CKD will be covered with overburden material
derived from overburden piles along the east side of the c:ut
as they are being graded to a maximum 2:1 slope. Since ttie
E1 cut is in a pre-law disturbed area, there was little
"topsoil" saved for reclamation. What "topsoil" exists will
be spread and seeded.
The quarrying operations will then move northward into they
other E-areas in sequence, with the CKD landfill followinc;,
and the reclamation being done by cover from the overburden
piles. The quarrying of the E-areas will be completed with
E5, and the CKD landfill is projected to be completed in E.9.
North of the middle of E4, reclamation will be limited to
filling the cut with the overburden at hand, and seeding.
Finished topography will resemble the pre-mining topography
in flavor, with rocky west-facing slopes, low cliffs, and
native vegetation.
• The C-band areas present a problem in a complete mining plan.
They will be mined, but cannot be mined economically for many
years. Mining, other than the weathered material which has
17
