4.4 Packer Permeability Testing
Packer water pressure testing provides an estimate of the in situ hydraulic conductivity of
the bedrock. Packer pressure tests were attempted in the bedrock portion of Boring BD-
102. A positive seal could not be maintained between the packer and borehole wall, and
packer testing was abandoned. Packer pressure tests were not performed in the
embankment or foundation materials, because of their clayey nature and estimated
relatively low permeability.
