The county is concerned that despite previous
communications with the owners and operators of this mill, including an unappealed opinion of
the Zoning Administrator, aze now proposing to utilize the Gold Hill Mill in a manner contrary
to uses allowed in the Forestry district.
Although I realize the limits of the Boards authority in this matter, a revision to allow the
processing of imported ores would be in direct violation of county caning. I would encourage
the boazd to utilize whatever authority they have to not approve this portion of the proposed
revision. As you aze awaze I participated in the previous round of hearings on this matter and
at that time testified that the proposed importation of ores would not be allowed.
I am seriously concerned that the applicantslco-permitees have not contacted this office regarding
the current requested revision, either prior to submission or during the review period. I hope that
this lack of communication regarding this matter is not an indication of future cooperation.
The Land Use staff has expended a significant amount of time on enforcement on this site it is
our strong belief that approval of this permit revision will not be in the public interest.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, if I may answer any questions or provide additional
information please contact me here.
Sincerely,
~._ ~~
obert Helmick
SEC: ~= ~'~,
SEP 2 41992
UIV~,~.~.~'...
MINERALS. a ci:
BY FAX-0RIGINAL BY MAIL
Planning Manager
Operational/Zoning
Sandy Hume
CormN Corrvnlssbner
Ronald K.
