Banks and Gesso, LLC
and progressing southward. To minimize groundwater impacts on the adjoining
properties until the slurry wall is completed, initial mining operations will occur
near the Platte River. Portions of the compacted clay liner need to be
constructed in mined areas adjacent to the new mining area. The slurry-wall
construction around the new mining area will begin and end in these sections of
the compacted clay liner. Initial mining operations will include topsoil stripping
and excavation of de-watering trenches. After the topsoil has been stripped, the
raw material will be excavated with front-end loaders and/or a large hydraulic
excavator. The material will be loaded into off-road haul trucks and transported
back to the existing processing site. Alternatively, the trucks may short-haul the
material from the pit to a drive-over hopper, feeding a field conveyor, which
would convey the material back to the processing area. The material near the
bedrock may be pushed up with a bulldozer, for subsequent handling if front-end
loaders are utilized.
(b) Earthmoving Operations
Earthmoving operations will begin with general site cleanup, removing fences
and incidental agricultural refuse, with appropriate disposal methods. Trees,
shrubs and other excess vegetation will be grubbed and removed, prior to
stripping operations. The topsoil first stripped will be initially stored in stockpiled
on the west side of the property for future reclamation. These stockpiles will be
placed to minimize noise and visual impacts to adjacent properties. Stockpiles
remaining for over one year will be planted with the temporary seed mix
Brighton Mine Amendment ~ ~ 20007WD
CAMAS Colorado. INC. May 2000
