Banks and Gesso, LLC
EXHIBIT D -MINING PLAN
Overview
The applicant proposes to expand the existing sand and gravel mining site.
Sand and gravel from the expansion areas will be processed at the existing
processing plant. Approximately 140 acres of the total permit area acreage of
approximately 287 acres is proposed for new mining (see Figure C-3, Mining
Plan Map). The mining area will be contiguous to the currently permitted
operation, and will bedry-mined. The proposed excavation areas will be
reclaimed as water-storage reservoirs surrounded by a combination compacted
clay liner and impermeable slurry wall that will be constructed in phases, during
the mining operations. The previously mined northern area will be reclaimed as
an un-lined wildlife pond. The edges of the reservoirs will be reclaimed to an
irregular shoreline. The post-mining land use of the property is for water storage
and surrounding wildlife habitat. The existing access from Riverdale Road will be
maintained for the future owner of the water storage reservoir. Since some of the
materials are only suitable as structural fill, the final total area mined depends on
the sale of these fill materials, and the final area mined may be smaller than
permitted. The Reclamation Plan assumes the cost for restoration of the
maximum mining area as water storage reservoirs and wildlife habitat.
(a) Mining Methods
The Applicant proposes to dry-mine the property. The initial mining will occur
near the northern end of the South Reservoir, expanding the existing mine area,
Brighton Mine Amendment 1 ~ 20007WD
CAMAS Colorado, INC. May 2000
