Reclamation of the roadway will occur when the <br />road is no longer required for access [o the Balch Weigh azea and will include <br />removal of the gravel and geo-fabrics, ripping of topsoil, and reseeding with an <br />appropriate seed mixture. <br />Area (ucres) of wetland impacts and proposed compensation: <br />Based on the wetlands delineation performed by Ken[ Crofts which was <br />inspected by Susan Nall on August 8, I997 and approved by the US Army <br />Corps of Engineers on August 20, 1997, the total wetland area impacted by the <br />road crossing will be 1850 squaze feet. Additionally, 260.6 square feet of <br />stream will be affected for a total impact to waters of the United States of 0.048 <br />acres. No compensation is proposed for the affected wetland azea. Reclamation <br />of the site will be performed in accordance with the Colorado Surface Coal <br />Mining Reclamation Act. <br />.Sec•tiorr, township, range, latitude/longitude or UTM coordinates of project location: <br />The project is located in the SW]/4 of the NE1/4 of Section 31, R86W, TSN, <br />USGS Quad Map: Rattlesnake Butte <br />Uucrntiro o f material to be discharged or excavated from waters of the United States: <br />A 70-foot, 42-inch CMP culvert will be installed at the crossing. The existing <br />material that will be cut to allow for installation of the culvert will be used for <br />till material around the culvert installation. Approximately 6 cubic yards of <br />rock rip-rap material will be placed on the upstream and downstream faces of <br />the road embankment and downstream of the culvert to prevent erosion. <br />Lnc•crte and describe disposal site for excavated materials: <br />No excavated material disposal is anticipated to be associated with this project. <br />De.scrihe Irow you will access and construct project, and control siltation and erosion: <br />Access to the construction project will be from Haul Road C, located on the <br />north side of Foidel Creek. The alignment will be surveyed and staked in the <br />tield. Silt fences or other temporary erosion control methods will be installed at <br />the perimeter of disturbed area to control erosion during construction. The <br />creek channel will be cut and a 70-foot, 42-inch diameter CMP culvert installed. <br />A layer of geo-fabric will be laid out along the route to provide a barrier <br />between the existing soils and the road fill materials. A structural geo-grid <br />material will be placed on top of the geo-fabric to increase the beazing strength <br />of the roadway. The fill material for the road will be l '/: inch roadbase gravel <br />compacted in 8-inch lifts. Safety berms will be constructed on either side of the <br />road way and rock filter structures installed to control sediment from the road <br />surface. Silt fences will remain in place until the azea has stabilized. The <br />roadway will be reclaimed in accordance with Colorado Surface Coal Mining <br />Reclamation Act guidelines when no longer required. <br />Tvpe o}',~eneral permit requested: <br />26.
