C-81-018
Dear Ms. Morrison:
Western Fuels-Utah, Inc. (N/FU) is in the process of finalizing the issuance of federal coal lease
IICOC 51551. We expect this lease to be issued sometime during the week of September 30,
1991. WFU has applied to CMLRD for a permit revision to include the pending lease within the
mine permit boundary, and for a permit to mine coal within the pending lease area. It appears
that the permit revision application may be approved toward the end of December, 1991.
The Deserado Mine's East Mains development is approaching the boundary between the current
lease and the pending lease. Please see the attached sketch and also refer to Map 119 D-Seam
Mine Plan submitted earlier with the permit revision application. It will be necessary to advance
the East Mains beyond the current lease line during the latter part of October, 1991, well before
the permit revision application is expected to be approved. This advance into the pending lease
will be necessary for the following reasons:
1. to establish water drainage from the East Mains -Eight East intersection,
2. to establish ventilation for the Eight East development section,
Suite #305
405 Urban Street
Lakewood, Colorado 80228
Telephone 30d/988-9626
Telewpier i0i/986-8141
