MINING PLAN AMENDMENT

r EXHIBIT D
This operation involves open pit mining in a gold placer deposit. This site has been permitted
and mined for placer gold since 1984. Since then mining activity has been sporadic.
The last permit amendment was in 1991 and include the addition of nine mining phases (see
Exhibit C -Mine Plan Map from Revision No. AM-O1). The 1991 amendment also reduced the
size of the pit to a maximum of 2.1 acres at any given time. The maximum affected azea
remained the same (29 acres). However, since that time, a seven acre pit has been excavated and
the proposed maximum affected acreage was exceeded.
The purpose of this amendment is to reduce and maintain the affected land at or below 29 acres,
revise the mining azea, and increase the maximum pit size and depth of mining. Reduction of the
affected land is discussed further in Exhibit E.
The amended mining plan no longer includes nine mining phases. The new mining plan will
focus on mining 27 acres on the south end of the property (see amended Exhibit C enclosed with
this application). Mining will progress south from the location of the existing pit and is expected
to take 10 yeazs to complete. The size of the pit will be increased to a maximum of eight acres
and mined to a maximum depth of 100 feet.
The current pit contains highwalls in access of 70 feet with very little benching. As mining
progresses to the south, sixty foot benches will be left in place at every twenh~-five foot depth
mined. While mining, the tails material greater than 3/8 inch in diameter will be used to backfill
the north end of the pit.
The existing operation has an impoundment to hold all tailings less than 3/8 inch in diameter.
The operator will continue to discazd fines in the tailings facility for the next two to three years.
This will require raising the impoundment another seven feet. Once the tailing impoundment is
no longer needed, the fines will also be transported to the pit to backfill.
All other aspects of this operation will remain the same.
D-1
