• EXHIBIT D - MINING PLAN
5 . 0 Mine Plan
The Joker Pit area adjoins the Marathon pilot plant
and it is anticipated that limited mining and sampling activity
will continue . The Joker Pit is less than one acre in size
and will not be expanded beyond one acre . The Joker Pit has
been mined for gold since at least the 1930s and was disturbed
previous to Marathon ' s current operation. The Company intends
to continue taking a limited number of bulk samples no larger
than 500 tons in size.
Marathon has no plans at present to mine more than
one acre of the lands permitted under its original permit .
Should these plans change, Marathon will notify the CMLR Board
and post bond accordingly.
Marathon does intend to take bulk samples from its
exploration properties. These samples will range in size from
200-400 tons maximum. A maximum of four excavations per month
will be made . Maximum pit dimensions will be 50 feet long ,
10 feet wide and 15 feet deep. Maximum area disturbed including
topsoil stockpiles will be 0 . 25 acres per pit . Excavations
• will be made using a dozer, front end loader and/or a backhoe.
Fifteen ton rear end dump trucks will be used to haul the bulk
sample material to the plant and to backhaul fill material.
Topsoil will be stripped and salvaged prior to excavating .
When backfilled, the topsoil will be replaced and the area reclaimed
as per the approved reclamation plan.
5. 1 Pilot Plant Operations
The Joker pilot plant will continue to be operated
on an intermittant basis to process bulk samples . The pilot
plant employs a wet gravity concentration system which utilizes
ore, water and the forces of nature to separate the heavy mineral
suite from the reject material.
As stated in the original permit, the Company' s pilot
plant operation does not employ either cyanidation or froth-
flotation, and the pilot plant does not add any chemical agents
or additives to the water , other than a small quantity of a
biodegradeable , non-toxic wetting agent . No cyanide will be
introduced or used in the pilot plant operation at any time.
The pilot plant has a present rated capacity of approxi-
mately 100 tons per hour or less depending upon the composition
of the material being run. Because it employs a wet process,
•
2
