operation will remain in tact upon completion of operations. The ditches
are not intended to be a permanent part of reclamation as they are expected
to fill with debris from upslope areas. No sizing criteria has thus been
considered for such ditches.
Fencing
A five-foot tall barbed wire fence will be constructed around the
perimeter of the pit. Standard-type metal warning placards will be posted
along the fence.
Soil Replacement and ReveQetation
Because of the discontinuous occurrence of soil in this area,
logistics and safety hazards of trying to salvage the soil, precise
determinations of soil available for reclamation will be available only
following stripping activities. Therefore, as discussed in Exhibit D, the
company will provide a materials balance and address specific uses of the
medium following completion of soil salvage operations in each phase to be
mined.
If a sufficient volume of soil can be salvaged from the affected area
the materiel Trill be used to place a minimum of a 6 to 12 inch cover, i5
possible, on the benches of the reclaimed pit, pit floor and disturbed
areas around the pit. If insufficient soil can be salvaged, what medium is
recovered will be used to create random soil pockets on the benches for
planting and placement of soil on the pit floor.
Grasses and seedling trees will be planted on the benches and grasses
planted on the pit floor. A list of species adapted to the soil and
moisture conditions is given below. The areas where soil is replaced will
