Box 187
Craig, CO 81626
Re: Annual Reclamation Report, Technical Revision No. 54,
Trapper Mine, Permit No. C-81-010
Dear Mr. Agnew:
Roy Romer,
Govemar
Fred R. Rants.
Division Director
We have reviewed the above-referenced technical revision application. The
application was received on March 18, 1991, and the approval deadline was
extended to Jtm a 7, 1991. Please respond to this letter as soon as possible
so that we may render a decision by the specified deadline.
Section 1.0 - 1990 Annual Recl amation Report
1. This section is acceptable.
Section 2.0 -Annual Hydrology Report
We have reviewed the Annual Hydrology Report developed by
Hydro-Engineering, Inc. In general, the findings are reasonable.
2. The Division cannot completely approve the proposed ground water
monitoring reduction. Specifically, all of the wells must continue to be
monitored for water level on a quarterly basis. This decision is based
upon a review of the data plots, nearly all of which indicate variable
water levels. This conclusion is also substantiated by the statement on
page 7-1 of the Hydro-Engineering, Inc., report which reads "Quarterly
monitoring of water levels is needed and recommended to define these
changes in the aquifers". The text page 4-247a indicates that quarterly
water level monitoring will continue; however, the subsequent tables seem
to contradict this.
The Division agrees that water quality is relatively constant at the
following wells:
r / ~ ~ / .i
GAl , GA2, G82, GBS, (~`f , GD2 (1J3, GEl , GE2,
GF~, GF2; GF~3; GF~S; P~, 81-03~A;
GPI, C~'4 , GP„5~, and G26 .
